Mandala of Time and Space
This specific ‘Mandala of the space-time continuum’ I tried to reconstruct in work
under the very title, where a wheel set in motion was ‘grinding’ water. Two video
projections were completing it, in which the round movement of objects was an axis
of the story. Round movement, eternal carrying on, the passage of time, constant
returning to the same point. However, in the whirling wheel there is a certain element
which is not moving, irrespective of the speed of the wheel, centre, axis, focal point
of the wheel, always remains motionless. Every wheel has its focal point, adamant centre,
middle of the whirling movement. ‘Such a scheme is referring into the interior of each of us.
A wheel is an image of the human psyche - of closed monad with the focal point of the ego.’
The wheel in the gallery is spinning as the unsuccessful perpetual motion machine,
is ‘pouring water in vain’, trying at all costs to spin closer to one's ideal. (Magdalena Ujma)
Mandala czasoprzestrzeni
Tę swoistą “Mandalę czasoprzestrzeni” próbowałem odtworzyć w pracy pod tym
właśnie tytułem, gdzie koło wprawione w ruch w galerii “mieliło” wodę. Towarzyszyły
mu dwie projekcje wideo, gdzie osią opowieści był ruch kolisty obiektów. Ruch kolisty,
wieczne toczenie, upływ czasu ciągłe powracanie do tego samego punktu. Jednak
w wirującym kole jest pewien element, który nie podlega żadnemu ruchowi, niezależnie
od prędkości koła, środek, oś, punkt centralny koła, zawsze pozostaje nieruchomy.
Każde koło ma swój punkt centralny, niewzruszone centrum, środek wirującego ruchu.
“Taki schemat odnosi się do wnętrza każdego z nas. Koło to obraz ludzkiej psychiki -
zamkniętej monady z centralnym punktem jaźni”. Koło w galerii kręci
się jak nieudane perpetuum mobile, przelewa wodę “z pustego w próżne”, próbując
za wszelką cenę dokręcić się do swego ideału. (Magdalena Ujma)
